No appointment
Walk in any day we're open. Most visits take about ten minutes from door to door.
Before you drive over
The most useful minute you can spend is a phone call with your plate number.
In about a minute we can pull the record, see whether a smog check is due, check for holds, and tell you exactly what to bring and what it will cost. It saves far more time than it takes, and it is free.

If you are coming for anything beyond a straightforward renewal, bring more than you think you need. Title, registration, photo ID, proof of insurance and any letter the DMV has sent covers nearly everything we see. Parking out front is free and unmetered, with room to pull in if you are bringing a vehicle for a VIN check.
We are open Monday to Thursday from 9:30am to 5:30pm, and Friday from 9:30am to 1:00pm and again from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. If you are arriving close to closing, call and we will tell you honestly whether to hurry or come back tomorrow.
Miramar Rd is straightforward from both the 805 and the 15, and we are convenient to Mira Mesa, Sorrento Valley, Scripps Ranch, Kearny Mesa and UTC. Most people find us quicker to reach than the nearest field office, before counting what happens once you arrive.
